    Abstract:

8 male Sprague Dawley rats were fed with 10% (V/V) ethanol fromdrinking water at an average dose of 8.0g/kg body weight per day for 90days. Control rats were given the common diet without ethanol. Theactivities of alcoho1 dehydrogenase (ADH) and glutathione S-transferase(GST )of rat liver were measured at 30, 60 and 90 days of the experi-ment respectively. The results demonstrated that there was a significantdecrease of ADH and GST activities of rat liver in chronic aicoholintake group (P<0.05, and P<0.01) .
