    Abstract:

    he plateau pika (Ochotona curzoniae) is a spec ies of newly-developedlaboratory animals. The fundamenta1 gastrointe stinal characteristics of thepika was analyzed and discussed, and the nutritive elements of wild plantsfor the pika being fond of were also analyzed in this paper. Accordingto the result from feeding-test, the basic standard of nutritive elementsfor the pika was about 14.90% raw protein, 25.79% raw cellulose.3.24% fat and 8.49% minerals. This project also indicated that the pikaobviously required more plant cellulose than domesticated rabbit
